Taunton Liberal Democrats stand a full slate of local candidates

Taunton Liberal Democrats received confirmation today (Thursday) that they are the only party to have a full slate of 20 candidates, all living locally to Taunton, for the upcoming Town Council elections on Thursday, May 4th.

According to the Electoral Register eight of the Conservatives’ candidates live outside Taunton including as far afield as Bridgwater, whilst Labour and the Green Party are standing only 13 and 2 candidates respectively.

A blend of experienced councillors and new blood, the background of the Lib Dem candidates includes disability campaigners, digital innovators, charity leaders and more.

Gideon Amos, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Taunton said: “The Liberal Democrats in Taunton are the team who work for you. I am delighted with the calibre and enthusiasm of the team we have standing to represent local people at these elections and look forward to working alongside them over the weeks, months and years ahead. 

"It is clear that only the Liberal Democrats are taking Taunton seriously and are committed to driving our town forward.

"From completing Coal Orchard, protecting our open spaces and supporting our public transport system, the Liberal Democrats have a track record of delivering locally. I have no doubt that a Lib Dem-run Taunton Town Council will continue to build on this success.”
