The Wellington and Cullumpton Stations Project is an opportunity for two new train stations to improve connectivity, leisure, and business opportunities across the South West. Having being a part of the 'Restoring Your Railway' scheme that was axed by the Labour Government, Gideon Amos MP is determined to get this over the line, working closely with Richard Foord MP for Honiton and Sidmouth.

In July 2024 the Chancellor confirmed that the project will be going ahead.

The Rail minister wrote a letter explaing that the prokect was put on review as part of the scrapping of the ‘Restore Your Railway’ Scheme.

In September 2024 Gideon Amos MP met with the Minister for Rail alongside Richard Foord MP to present the detailed busieness case.

In November 2024 the Rail minister confirms that review process is progressing at a wider meeting on rail serviced in the South West.

In December 2024 Gideon Amos MP spoke in parliament about the importance of the Project and the benfits that it would incur.

Reopening the station will restore direct rail access long lost by Wellington, improving connection to wider hubs like Bristol and Exeter.
