Meet your councillor for Wellington North
Steve had a wide career prior to retirement including service in H M Treasury, Whitehall, as an independent consultant specialising in heritage organizations, and latterly as Chief Executive of a West Country Local Medical Committee representing about 1000 NHS GPs.
He has two Masters degrees, in Organizational Psychology and Business Administration, while also pursuing his main hobby of writing novels, plays and short stories. His connections with Wellington started over 30 years ago when he staged his first play in a festival at the Wellesley and he is delighted to now be resident here with his wife. One of his married sons and two granddaughters also live in Wellington.
Prior to becoming a Wellington councillor, Steve had been a Parish councillor in Devon, also chairing that council for two years and a governor of two schools. Steve supports a strong role for town and parish councils where the full team, irrespective of political views, can try to work together for the good of the community. Pressures on many services make it vital that the collective council voice takes every opportunity to lobby higher levels of government and business to resolve local problems.
