David’s career is defined by a remarkable 42-year tenure on the railways. His journey in the industry began at the Taunton station booking office and culminated in strategic planning, providing him with a unique understanding of the infrastructure and logistics vital to the region’s connectivity. Since retiring, he has co-chaired the Somerset Bus Partnership, lobbying for better services across the county.

Since his retirement, David has channeled his energy into improving local services and fostering community spirit:

• Bus Advocacy: As the co-chair of the Somerset Bus Partnership, David is a leading voice for better county-wide services. He successfully campaigned alongside Gideon Amos MP to reinstate the 6.22 am Number 1 bus to Musgrove Park Hospital—a critical lifeline for key workers
• Petitions & Progress: He launched the 'Better Bus Services for North Priorswood' petition, which garnered 1,100 signatures. He continues to push for Sunday services and increased regularity on the Number 1 route, which serves over 5,000 people weekly
• The Arts & Inclusion: David founded @2K Theatre, a community drama group that has produced over 50 shows across West Somerset. The group focuses on bringing theatre to underserved areas and helping neurodiverse young people build confidence and flourish.

Having grown up in North Taunton, David is committed to ensuring the "basics" are handled correctly while fighting for long-term improvements. His key focus areas on the Town Council include:

• Infrastructure: Tackling Dorchester Road potholes and ensuring winter gritting for roads like Warwick Road
• Community Maintenance: Improving the cleanliness of bus shelters and protecting local green spaces
• Sustainable Growth: Addressing concerns regarding how new developments affect local congestion and access to essential services.
