More than 300 people attended a North Taunton Community Day organised by Liberal Democrat town councillor Rob Isaacs.

It was part of a Ward Member Initiative Scheme, launched by the council to generate projects and improvements across the town.

The event took place at Wellsprings Leisure Centre yesterday (Tuesday) and featured nearly 20 organisations and charities offering a variety of stalls and activities.

Younger visitors could enjoy circus skills, face painting, a bouncy castle and go karts while there was plenty of useful information available for adults.

Cllr Isaacs, ward member for Wellsprings and Rowbarton, said: “It was a great day and we were delighted so many people came along. We will definitely do more of these in the future.

“The Ward Member Initiative is a brilliant idea and I already have two more projects in the pipeline.”

Among the visitors was Taunton’s MP, Gideon Amos, who said: “What a fantastic occasion - well done to Rob and all the volunteers who made it such a huge success and free for local families which really helps people, given the cost-of-living challenge.

“Rob is a real champion for residents in Wellsprings and Rowbarton.

“It’s great to see a member of the LibDem team working hard for his community alongside other volunteers. I’m delighted to support his efforts.”
